I'm
a
lawyer at the Tulare County Public Defender's Office in Visalia,
California, USA. After many years of attending law meetings
and
seminars, usually in not so exciting locations, I came up with the idea
of a Public Defender Las Vegas Retreat in Las Vegas, Nevada, "The
Entertainment and Convention Capital of the World."
We started in January 2001, with the 1st Annual Public Defender Las Vegas Retreat at the St. Tropez All Suite Hotel (now Rumor Boutique Hotel) in Las Vegas. We had a very modest (but spirited) turnout of about 50 attendees. Since then, we have grown to where we have been averaging 200 to 300 attendees from nearly 40 states and several countries each year. The main purpose of the Retreat is for a fun and relaxing weekend, with some legal education. Also, it's a great morale building and attitude lifting experience. As you probably know, this is an area that public defenders, as well as private defense attorneys, lawyers, investigators, etc. always need. We also make every attempt to keep the cost to attend this Retreat to a minimum. In my opinion, this Retreat is comparable to a $400 to $500 seminar, at a fraction of the cost, and much more enjoyable. We also have souvenir Retreat T-shirts, caps, and coffee mugs for sale during the Retreat Sign-In and Speakers' presentations which helps to support this event too. If you have any questions about the Public Defender Retreat, please give me a call or email. You can Register for the Las Vegas Retreat here. You can help support the Retreat as a personal or business sponsor or exhibitor here. I invite you to be a part of this great Retreat, and I hope to see you soon in Vegas! Sincerely, Dave Rendahl Deputy Public Defender and Retreat Organizer Office: 1-559-636-4500 FAX: 1-559-733-6113 Email: Dave@PublicDefenderRetreat.com or drendahl@co.tulare.ca.us Legal organizations, blogs, websites, magazines, newspapers, TV, and radio: please contact Dave Rendahl for interview opportunities and Retreat information.

The
average high temperature for late April in Las Vegas is about 83°F
(29°C)
and the
average low temperature is about 55°F (14°C) with about 24% humidity,
but it
can get warmer or cooler than these averages. We recommend a jacket or sweater for the evenings (and maybe for the
Retreat session room too). Las Vegas averages 320 days of sunshine a year, with average
monthly precipitation for April and May of 0.20 inches.
